This is quite interesting and worthy to have a look at. Most of teachers develop their labour mainly devoted to their subjects, which in this case is English. But some of them have to deal with the not always easy task of teaching English in connection with another subject directly.
From this point of view this sentence which reflects how different subjects can connect through essential questions and I dare to add, effective questions as well.This process of transferring question and knowledge might contribute to a deep understanding from part of the pupils.
I agree with you when you propose the idea of transferability across the different disciplines taught in most of the schools, because the connection of them would help students to recognize the different pieces of information as a whole, causing a swift ‘click’ in their minds, however it can not be carried out without the application of a common method of teaching that pursuits the same goal in education ‘to get understanding’. If most of teachers had in mind this ideal aim I think that students would be able to go beyond the information given, developing their capacities of critical thinking.
